Learning PHP
I am beginning the process of revamping my site. My intent is to make use of PHPgedview to display all of the direct ancestors in my research along with their immediate families.
I find that my desire to “play” with the data involved in ancestry research doesn’t match up well with many of the commericially available programs. Therefore I am going to use PHP to construct the kinds of queries and displays I find interesting.
I will explain more about this as I go along and also blog about the process of learning PHP. I am skilled with Excel and Access but PHP is a new project for me.
This site will be a mess for a bit but if you find any family connections you are interested fell free to write me. I have much more on descendent famlies for most branches of my tree and would love to share information with others. My primary tool for research, and for organizing my documents and sources in Ancestry.com so if you are a subscriber you can find me there as rjborkow1.
genealogy gems podcast
I thought you might find it interesting to listen to a recent Podcast with a reference to my story.
In response to an earlier show, I emailed the host of this show. After a couple of exchanges an email of mine was read on this week’s show. For context you can scroll down on her website for links to a recent “this American life” episode called “the Ghost of Bobby Dunbar” (episode 46)
